Georgia M. Ashby, daughter of the late George Gordon and Ethel Adney Gordon was born on Dec. 23, 1924, in Gideon and died on Sept. 12, 2010, in the Malden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 85.
She was united in marriage to Morris Edwin Ashby on Sept. 11, 1945, in Gideon. Mr. Ashby died on July 24, 1995.
Mrs. Ashby was a member of the Bernie First Assembly of God Church in Bernie, a homemaker, and a former resident of Bernie currently living in Malden.
Survivors include one son, Alan Ashby and wife Freda of Bernie; two grandchildren, Michelle Ashby O'Connor and Kimberly Allen; and two great-grandchildren Eric Allen, and Elizabeth Allen.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris E. Ashby; one brother, Woodrow Gordon; and two sisters, Eva Gordon and Velva Gordon.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, in the First Assembly of God Church in Bernie with Rev. Kent Kassinger officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery at Bernie.
*She was also preceded in death by a grandson Douglas Alan Ashby.
