Miss Dimmery died Monday, March 2, 2009, at Agape Senior Community. Born in Mullins, SC, on September 3, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Daniel H. and Viola Suggs Dimmery. Miss Dimmery was a longtime resident of Columbia and a long time member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities. She later moved her membership to North Trenholm Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business College in early 1940. After graduation Berlyn began a career with Colonial Life and Accident Insurance Company and retired after working more than 40 years. Her love for the outdoors, working in her yard and feeding the birds will never be forgotten. She was always helping her family in times of need with her unselfish caregiving, assistance and love. Her family and many friends will fondly remember her for her loving and giving spirit. She enriched the lives of anyone that came to know her, and they loved her because of her sweet loving spirit. Miss Dimmery's family cherished the time that they spent with her and look forward to the day they see her again.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law, Irene Dimmery, predeceased by husband, Hubert Dimmery, Wilma Dimmery Williams, predeceased by husband, Ira Dimmery, Mamie Dimmery, predeceased by husband, Fred Dimmery, Dot Dimmery Harrison, predeceased by husband, Bill Dimmery; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Miss Dimmery was preceded in death by all 22 brothers and sisters.
