Margaret Joy Broughton, 79, of Salem, Ark., daughter of the late William Harrison and Opal Gladys (Couch) Lacy, was born on May 6, 1929, in Hunter, Ark. She died Aug. 24, 2008, in Salem, Ark.
Margaret was united in marriage to Joseph Edgar Broughton on Oct. 5, 1946, at Hazen, Ark. She was a homemaker.

Margaret was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the VFW Post 9777 Auxiliary in Salem, Ark..

She is survived by: two sons, Lloyd L. Broughton of Ash Flat, Ark., and Ricky L. Broughton of Bethesda, Ark.; two daughters, Kay Jackson of Ash Flat, and Bonnie Mott of Viola, Ark.; three brothers, Jessie Lacy of Dexter, Mo., George Lacy of Vilonia, Ark., and Harold Lacy of Slidell, La.; four sisters, Carol Ward of Stuttgart, Ark., Elizabeth Almond of Little Rock, Ark., Dorothy Traylor of Brinkley, Ark., and Wyona Johnson of Little Rock, Ark.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; and four brothers, Jimmie, Billy, Harrison and John Lacy.

Graveside services were held Aug. 27 at the Byron Cemetery in Byron, Ark., with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment followed in the Byron Cemetery under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Ark.
