Ernest L. Albright, 85, Sinking Valley, died early Monday morning at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.

He was born in Sinking Valley, son of Christian and Alice (Frederick) Albright. He married Margie L. McDonald on Nov. 6, 1982.

Surviving are his wife; three stepchildren: Ralph (Ki) Overcash of Alexandria, Va., Howard Lee (Diane) Overcash of Altoona and Bonnie June (Mike) Miller of Sinking Valley; three grandchildren: Ralph Overcash III of Alexandria, Va., Bernard Miller of Tyrone and Gabriel Miller of Altoona; five nephews: Glenn Albright and Harry Albright, both of Sinking Valley, David Pease of Newry, Robert Pease in Kentucky and retired U.S. Army Chaplain Paul (Judy) Pease of Sinking Valley; and a niece, Darlene Slippey of Sinking Valley.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Ernest was a retired dairy farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a sergeant in the field artillery in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign in the Ardennes, Central Europe and the Rhineland and was in the Battle of the Bulge.

Ernest was a member of Foot of Ten Bible Church of Duncansville, where he served as an usher. At one time, he played on the Sinking Valley baseball team and was a dedicated baseball fan. He enjoyed deer hunting and loved the outdoors.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m. with Ernest's nephew, retired U.S. Army Chaplain Paul Pease officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Tyrone Honor Guard with interment private at the convenience of the family in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Sinking Valley.
