Mrs. Rose Ann Bacon, 64, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, after months of declining health.

Rose entered this life on May 3, 1949 in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of the late Walter D. Dannelley, Sr. and Edna R. (Bryant) Dannelley. She resided in Monroeville, Ohio before moving with her family to Joplin, Missouri in 1962. She graduated from Joplin Senior High School in 1967 and furthered her education by receiving her bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern State College. On August 21, 1971 she was united in marriage to Johnie Richard Bacon and to this union one son was born. She retired in 2008 from St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri, after thirty-four years of service. She enjoyed craft projects and knitting. She was a longtime member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Joplin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Hal L. Dannelley and Walter D. Dannelley, Sr.

Rose is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Johnie Bacon of the home; a son, Andrew Bacon of Carl Junction, Missouri; a sister, Nancy Jane Valencia of Joplin, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bacon are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri with Father Frank Sierra officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Kyle Dannelley, Stacy Smith, Joel Dannelley, Patsy Dannelley, Sean McWilliams and Jerry Bacon. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Memorials are being directed to Mercy Health Foundation and contributions may be left at the mortuary. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
