DARTMOUTH, MA — John C. Alexander, 61, of Dartmouth, passed away at home on Sunday morning, May 3, 2009, after a short period of declining health.
He was the loving husband of Linda McClain-Alexander, they were married for 20 years.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late John E. and Stella (Amorim) Alexander. John was employed at Acushnet Co., Titleist, for 29 years. He was an avid outdoor sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and shooting trap.
During his early years John competed at muzzle loading competitions all across New England, winning many awards. John was a member of the National Rifle Association and former vice-president and life member of the Rod and Gun Club of New Bedford.
Survivors include his wife; his sister, Carolyn Mendonca and her husband, David of Maryland; a niece, Lynn Nauman and her husband, Andrew of Maryland; a great-nephew, Oscar Nauman of Maryland; and his loving aunt, Mary Melo of Dartmouth.
John is sadly missed.
In accordance with his wishes he was cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at Seamen's Bethel, 15 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford, MA on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are by the Boulevard Funeral Home 223 Ashley Blvd.
