Leonard was the eldest of 6 children by Wesley and Gladys Pottle. He served in the Army in WWII, married and had four children, Bernard, Brenda, Blaine and Brian, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He worked as a mechanic for many years until being seriously injured in a work related accident. Despite this setback, Leonard was able to return to work. He traveled to Massachusetts to learn about maintainance on blueberry harvesting equipment where he was struck and killed by a car after stopping at a truck stop for dinner.
