Hugh Dunn was the youngest of three children born to Coy Lee and Fanny Marie Holland Dunn born June 12, 1929 in Greene County, TN. He was a veteran of the Korean War and later married Irene "Toots" Haren also of Greene County. To that union were born three children that survive: Danny (Linda), Betty (Ronnie Morgan) and Robin (Jerry Gosnell). Hugh worked at the Kingsport Press for many years until the prolonged strike in 1963 where he and hundreds of others lost their jobs. He then became a long-haul trucker for many years until his retirement.
After the dissolution of his first marriage, he later remarried to Edna Glenn Dunn, who preceded him in death. He later became disabled from emphysema even after quitting smoking as did his older sister Neva and later complications led to his premature passing. He was always cheerful and had a wicked sense of humor much like his dad, Coy. He died Dec. 1, 2007 after a long illness and is buried in the Washington County Memory Gardens near Johnson City, TN. He is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step-children and several step-grandchildren, his sister Glenna Marie Dunn Sizemore and his first wife Elizabeth Irene "Toots" Haren Dunn. He is greatly missed by his family.
