In 1912, she made the voyage across the ocean and came to America. She was a passenger on the Carpathia, a ship made famous by it's rescue of the Titanic survivors. Sometime after coming to America, she met Paval Argylan, whose name had been changed during his own immigration landing, to Paul Ardelan, who was also from Romania. They eventually married, settled in the Detroit area of Michigan, and had ten children together. He died just a few days after their last child was born.
She did marry a second time to man named Charles Busciman, but it ended in divorce about a year later.
The family was a large family, and had many happy years together. As she aged, she never lost her Romanian accent, and lived to ripe age of 100 years young.
My great-grandmother was always someone I was excited to see, which sadly did not happen often. But I cherish the times I did see her. She has an amazing story, which has been documented through taped interviews with a couple of her children that she did for them.
