Learn about upgrading this memorial...
Birth: Apr. 2, 1871, USA
Death: Jun. 22, 1940, USA

William Akin, also known as "Will", "Willie", and " Will Mus", was of medium height, but sturdily built, weighing 200 lbs. or more. He owned a farm on Little Brush Creek, which he farmed in a small way. He used the creek to form two large ponds, which he stocked with fish, feeding them with bread, etc., thrown out on the water. He took great pride in his fish, more so than the tobacco he grew for a cash crop. He had, altogether, four women, but none could manage him except the last wife, Ida Carter. In his older days. "Will Mus" suffered from diabetes and hardening of the arteries, causing his mind to be a bit cloudy. Ida considered having him committed to an institution, but the Judge asked her if she was afraid of him. When her answer was "no", the Judge ruled he should live at home until death, which was not long in coming. Will Mus had one daughter by his other former wife, Julia Warren. This was Mary or "Tommy Lige" Akin, who married Joe Mayfield.

In the 1910 LaRue County census for the Buffalo District, Wm. L. Akin was head of household 90 and 39 years old. His young wife was Ida, age 18 years.

In the 1920 Green County Census Upper Brush Creek, William Akin is head of household #271. He is 49 years of age. His wife, Ada, is 29. They live alone.

On 6 Dec 1892, Will married Mariah E. Sanders in LaRue County, Kentucky. Both were 21 years of age.

He married again to Julia A. Warren (1878-1964) on 30 Jun 1896. He 25, she was 19. They later divorced before 1909.

On 13 Dec 1909, Will married Ida Carter (1890-1953) in LaRue County, Ky. He 38, she was 18 years of age.
