George Walter Andrews, 93, Oakwood, died at 4:25 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2006, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.

He was born July 31, 1912, in Arthur, the son of John and Cora (Kleinhen) Andrews. In 1938, he married May Lucille Frankart, who died in 1984. In 1987, he married Helen Rieke Heller, who survives. He was a farmer and a lifetime member of Bethel Christian Church, Arthur. He was a member of the Paulding County Farm Bureau, and an active supporter of the Paulding County 4-H program and numerous other organizations in the community.

Also surviving are two stepsons, Ron (Jennie) Heller of Defiance, and Don (Cheryl) Heller, Indian River, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Dianne (David) Stouffer, Paulding; Paul (Deb) Adams, Oakwood, who was like a son to Walter; two sisters, Dorothy Knoop of Defiance, and Zylpha Shisler, Cloverdale; and six step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, Miland, Vern and John Andrews; and a sister, Donelda Searles.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bethel Christian Church, Arthur, with Pastor Christopher Baker officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery, rural Oakwood. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Oakwood, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
