She was born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio and has been a resident of Yardley, Pa. since 1976, moving here from Princeton, N.J.
Mrs. Barr graduated in 1955 from the Laurel School. She attended the Pine Manor Junior College for two years where she majored in music. She also majored in music and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1959.
She performed with the Sweet Adelines in the Princeton area in the 70's and also sang with the Festival of Praise in the early 80's. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling, the opera and was a volunteer worker for Meals on Wheels.
Daughter of the late R. Scott and Lois (Fuller) Mueller, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Muller Barr and his wife Donna, of Perkasie, Pa.; Andrew Fuller Barr and his wife Michele, of Arlington, Tex.; Allan Pritchard Barr and his wife Heidi of Centennial, Colo. Martha had a special love for her grandchildren: Ashley, Rachel, Emma, Caleb, Anna and Tobias. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lois M. Roulston, of Cleveland, Ohio; Marilyn M. Dickey, of Northbrook, Ill.
Music, her very special friends, traveling and family meant much to Martha.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the Grace Point Baptist Church, 592 Washington Crossing Road, Newtown, Pa. with the Rev. Chris McCloskey, Pastor officiating. Interment will be in the Knollwood Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio at a time to be announced at a later date.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Christian Children's Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, Va. 23294.
