Joseph David Babb was born 22 February 1865 in Madison Co IL a son of Andrew Jackson and Lucy Long Babb. He came to Missouri with his mother at the age of six but grew up in the Daniel Bills home after his mother remarried. On February 22 1885 he married Rhoda Ellen Keith who was born 21 December 1867 in Dallas Co Mo, the daughter of Foster and Sarah Randleman Keith.

Joseph David Babb became a Christian Church minister about 1890 and served various churches in Missouri for thirty years. In 1927 he toured the Holy Land and on his return he gave lectures on his travels. He retired in 1932 and lived aqt Aldrich MO until his death on 9 March 1939. They were the parents of six sons and six daughters: Everett 1886-1973; John 1887-1972; Flora 1889-1981 married Paul Bennett; Samuel F 1891-1936; Joseph R 1894; Dolly 1896- married Lewis R. Barton' Clay 1899-1972 married Kathy Cox; Ray 1901; Lydia 1903 married Leo H. Thomas; Pauline 1906 married ___ Schoenstine; Wilma and Maurine. Rhoda Ellen Babb died 18 Jun 1953.

On the front page of the Buffalo Reflex, issue of July 29, 1937, column 4 and 5 and continued on Page 8, column 3 and 4, there is a long article about Rev. J. D. Babb, including a very good photo print of him, which was a review of his life, done by Rev. Virgil R. Walker.

"joseph David Babb, Born Feb. 22, 1865 Madison county Illinois, son of A. J. and Lucy A. long-Babb. His paternal grandfather was Wm. Babb of Kentucky, who emigrated to Missouri and is buried at Bloomfield. The original Babb's were Presbyterians and stood for education and industry as did the Longs.

J. D.'s mother was a teacher in Missouri and Illinois. His maternal grandfather was a Methodist Minister. JD's father died when he was a small boy and buried at Troy Ills.

He had one sister, Sarah who married Nute Randleman.
