DOYLE E ABBOTT of Sanford, FL died of cancer
He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Agricultural Economics and was a prominent member of the Florida agricultural community. From an early start citrus farming in his home community of Fort Green, he moved to large scale pineapple and vegetable farming in Delray. He was a founding member of Central Florida Tropical Fruit Club. Doyle served in the Merchant Marines during WWII as a Fireman/Water Tender on a T2 Tanker and was an active member of the Rudy Kozak Merchant Marine Chapter in Sanford. Preceded in death lby his son, Eric, surviving are his wife, Lena Mae Abbott; children, Hugh Abbott, Dennis Abbott, Victor Mallett, Vivian (Joe) Pozo and daughter-in-law Robbin Abbott; grandchildren, Jennifer Monath, Larissa DeDea, Brandon and Jarrett Abbott and great-grandchildren, Nicole and Tommy Hayduk; brother, Gerald (Jo). A funeral service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home on July 17, 2011. Published in the Orlando Sentinel on July 16, 2011.
