Mr. Bixler was engaged in farming and was a member of the Newbern Methodist church, Hartsville Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star of Hope and the Farm Bureau. He was born August 5, 1887, in Mauckport, Ind., the son of the late Finley and Mary McIntyre Bixler. In 1909 he married Miss Jeanette Blake, who survives.
Surviving with the widow are five children, Robert Guy Bixler, Lynwood, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Jessee, Columbus; Teddy Bixler, Lansing, Mich; Thomas Bixler, Hope route 2; and Mrs. Naomi Arrington, Waco, Tex; ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Newbern Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Orville Carmichael and the Rev. William Self. Burial will be made at the Hope Moravian cemetery with Masonic rites.
The casket will be open from 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon until 1 o'clock Friday when the casket will be moved to the church and will be open until time of services.
