He first married Bobbie Jean McRae and they had four daughters, Anita, Melissa, Mary Carlene and Teresa.
In June, 1985, he married Mary Thomason Simpson. They had a very good 31-year marriage with many happy memories and a lot of medical problems. They cared for each other during those times building a very strong, loving bond.
Ed and Mary were members of the First Baptist Church in New Caney, TX, both serving in various capacities under the pastoring of Bro. Jonathan Fitzgerald.
Ed was a gardener as long as his health allowed and continued keeping his yard in great condition. He was known also for special walking canes he made. The one he used had pictures of all 13 of our grandchildren in medicine bottles placed on the cane. It was definitely a conversation piece and he made several friends by talking about it with various people wherever he was.
His other hobbies were reading, watching old Western movies, keeping up with the rodeo schedules and playing a mean card game.
His legacy will live on although he is not physically with us. We have the assurance through the Word of God that we will meet again.
