Army John Vincent Akin died as a result of wounds from shrapnel from an enemy booby trap.
Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne Division conducted a cordon and sweep of a village near grid YD 640 322. The area was heavily booby trapped.
As a result of the day's action, C Company lost 5 men to booby traps. It is unclear if it was from the same booby trap, or multiple incidents.
