Andres was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Special Forces. He was an usher for Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and also President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Andres attended the De Colores Catholic Retreat which spiritually enriched his life. Andres was a hard worker who always made sure his family was taken care of. He retired from Reynolds Metal Co. after 35 years of dedicated service where he was the Secretary/Treasurer for the Local AFLCIO. He was a kind hearted man who was always willing to help others. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Andres was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters; son, Hector Homer Alanis; and a grandson.
He leaves to cherish in memory his loving wife of 63 years, Dalia; children, Diana Sonnenschein (Rick), Andres Alanis, Jr., Ernest Alanis (Josie), Delva Alanis, Norma Garcia, Dalia Garcia (Rene), Anna Cantu, Rolando Alanis, and Patsy Garza (Abel); 25 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters.
Visitation and a rosary service were held on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. A mass of Christian Burial were held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Entombment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
