He began his professional career in major league baseball as an amateur free agent in 1925. He made his debut as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox on September 22, 1925 and played in his only game in the major league the following day. For his one game and one and only appearance he posted a win-loss record of 0-0, an ERA of 7.94 and one strikeout. After leaving the major league he became a baseball coach for the Lehigh Engineers baseball program at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania from 1929 until 1937. He also coached as an assistant in their football program.
