Robert Elliot Cole joined the 22nd Mississippi Infantry, Company G, better known as "The Black Hawk Rifles" on 30 April 1861 at Black Hawk, Carroll, Mississippi. He was born 18 Sep 1841 in Choctaw county, Mississippi. His parents were Richard Wesley and Eliza Jane JONES Cole of Black Hawk, Mississippi formerly of Fayette county, Alabama. Robert Elliot Cole died of disease on 2 Dec 1861 at Camp Beauregard, Feliciana, Graves, Kentucky.
