AMSTERDAM EVENING RECORDER
WEDNESDAY APRIL 26, 1905
W. Morris Atty, the trainman on the
New York Central flyer, who was injured
below Pougbkeepsle on Saturday
night, died at the Vassar Brothers'
hospital, Poughkeepsie, about 4:30
o'clock Tuesday afternoon as the result
of his injuries.
Mr. Atty, younger son of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Atty, was born on the
Sand Flats, near Fonda, and at the
time of his death was 38 years of age.
About 25 years ago he removed
with his parents to Johnstown. After
leaving school he worked for a time
in P. P. Argerslnger & Co.'s factory
and nineteen years ago secured a position
with the New York Central and
was gradually advanced until he became
trainman on one of the flyers
running between Albany and New
York. Thirteen years ago today he
was married to Miss Libbie, daughter
of the late David Miller of Johnstown,
and shortly afterwords removed to Albany.
Mr. Atty was a genial man and a
great favorite with his acquaintances
and his injury and untimely death will
be a source of regret to a large circle
of friends. He was one of the members
of the Keck Zouaves, Johnstown's
one-time famous military organization.
He is survived by his widow, his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Atty,
of Gloversvllle; one brother, Delbert,
of Johnstown, and two sisters, Mrs.
Theodore Sammons of Johnstown, and
Mrs. John Sherman of Gloversvllle.
