Beatrice Tomlin Anderson She was born on February 24, 1929, a child of the Great Depression. Mercifully, Beatrice T. Anderson departed this life on Christmas Day after a brave, but very long, painful and debilitating battle with Alzheimer's disease. Those of us who knew her before the disease took its toll have sadly missed "Bea" for many years. She will be lovingly and fondly remembered for many more. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Eric G. Anderson, as well as her two brothers Carroll M. Tomlin and Wallace B. Tomlin. She was the daughter of Fannie Mawyer Tomlin and John Henry Tomlin of Clifford, VA and she would proudly reminisce about her days as a Sunday School Teacher at the Clifford Baptist Church. She is survived by her son Eric Dean Anderson (wife Kimberly) and by her precious and adored granddaughter Stacie Anderson Clark (husband Michael), and a great-granddaughter that she would have equally adored, McKynlee Blair Clark. In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she retired from two careers in her life. She first retired after many years of service with the C&P Telephone Company. After a very short initial retirement, she began a second career as a Telemarketer with Tri Tech Laboratories, a career from which she also retired. Both careers enabled her to make a living while doing something that she admittedly dearly loved to do, talk on the telephone.
Sadly, she enjoyed too few years of actual retirement, but during those years she loved traveling and playing cards with her many friends and neighbors, friends to which she was completely devoted. A strong-willed and Christian woman, the disease that deprived her of nearly everything else in life and eventually took her life, could never take those two things from her. A visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg today, Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be conducted at Spring Hill Cemetery on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 11:00 am. with Reverend Carlton Duck and Reverend Michael Fitzgerald officiating. Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.tharpfuneralhome.com.
