Sarah Yates Goare, completed her earthly mission of 91 years on Monday, August 11, 2014 and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Goare was born April 21, 1923 in Iredell County to the late Rev. J. Clyde Yates and VC Cook Yates, she was the oldest of 9 children. A lifelong student, Sarah graduated from Mars Hill College, Meredith College and the Baptist Women's Missionary Training School in Louisville, KY, where she met her beloved Clifford. Although Sarah and Clifford had set their sights on entering into missions on the foreign field, the Lord made it clear that they were to serve Him closer to home. From small country churches to larger city churches, Sarah was Clifford helpmate, faithfully serving the Lord in whatever area she was needed, whether it be as Sunday School teacher, pianist, organist, Vacation Bible School director, or a variety of janitorial, childcare or kitchen services. She leaves a legacy of unconditional love to her family, friends and all who crossed her path. Sarah took very seriously Micah 6:8 which says, " And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and walk humbly with your God". She was the epitome of the "gentle quite spirit", always extending grace and mercy to all, as she modeled Christ in this world.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Rev. J. Clifford Goare, a son Don Goare, grandson, Jason Ingraham and a brother, Rev. Clyde Yates, Jr.
A celebration of the life of Sarah Yates Goare will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday August 14, 2014 at East Valdese Baptist Church, with Rev. Brett Howell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
