Bernice attended Grand Haven High School, McLaughlin Business College in Grand Rapids, and took a course in floriculture at Amherst College, Massachusetts. She worked as a designer at the Shady Lawn Florists until her marriage with Dennis Milbourne Boer. This took place June 3, 1930, in the Sixth Reformed Church, Holland, Michigan. Dennis received his Engineering degree from the University of Michigan, and Business administration degree from the University of Missouri. He worked as an Electrical Engineer in Pennsylvania and resided in East McKeesport and Oil City, Pennsylvania.

In 1946, Dennis and Bernice moved to the Kansas City area where Dennis worked as Chief Electrical Engineer until 1965. After that time, he worked as a consulting engineer for several local businesses. They made their home in Leawood Kansas, until the death of Bernice in September 1991. Dennis died a couple of years later in 1993.

Bernice M. Boer

Bernice M. Boer, 88, Leawood died Sepember 11, 1991 at Humana Hospital-Overland Park. She was born in Holland Michigan and lived in this area for 45 years. Mrs. Boer was a member of St Peters United Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Dennis M. Boer of the home: two sons Dennis B. Boer of Stilwell, in Johnson County and Warren L. Boer, Lakeview Heights, Mo; a brother Herbert L. Vander Ploeg, Holland, Michigan, and six grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church: burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Park Lawn Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church memorial fund.
