Alexander, William W., Commander, US Navy (Ret) at the age of 84 Saturday, October 1, 2011. Born June 20, 1927 he was proceeded in death by his parents William J. and Doris Alexander. He grew up in Dorchester, Illinois graduating from Shipman Community High School in 1945. He entered the US Navy aviation program in 1945 retiring in 1976. He served in World War II, the Korean and Cuban Conflicts and Vietnam. He is survived by his long time companion Marlene Dent and his children Wendy (Michael) Bingesser, Scott Alexander, Wesley (Cindy) Alexander, William J.(Jolene) Alexander, plus six grandchildren, Matthew and William Bingesser, Dillon, Quinton and Tatum Alexander, and Rochelle Alexander. Services: Burial will be performed at sea by the US Navy. Arrangements by Baumann Colonial Chapel. In lieu of flowers he wished donations be sent to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.
