Born to Lithuanian immigrants Vincent & Anna Norkus in Stratford, CT he was their youngest child. His older siblings were John J., Benedict and Susan Norkus Samuleman. He attended Stratford High and was a member of the chemistry club. After graduation in 1933, Bruno attended the RCA Institute in New York City taking post secondary coursework in radio engineering. He also served with the Stratford Special Police and the Connecticut State Auxiliary Police.
He was employed by Chance Vought Aircraft in the radio department (Sikorsky Division) at Bridgeport airport where he met his wife, Ruth Carol Pough who was working there on the Corsair assembly line as part of the war effort. They married June 8th 1946. Bruno and his family moved around the country for his job with Chance Vought, which later became Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV Aerospace) doing stints in Maryland, Texas, and finally Michigan where he retired.
Bruno was an avid amateur radio operator, call sign W8ERI, and coin collector, serving on the board of the Vought Coin Club while in Dallas, TX. He was survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter and two grand daughters.
