Ora (Orrie) James Burgoyne was born in Danville, IL, the son of James H. and Lura Butler Burgoyne. He had 1 brother, Roy Lake Burgoyne, and 2 sisters, Otie May Royse and Leona Bell Smith.
He married Eleanor McBride in 1893. They had 6 children, Helen Palmer, Stella Cornwell, Eva Burgoyne, Willard Burgoyne, Mae Rindt, and Glen Burgoyne. According to the obituary, he made his living as a sand and gravel contractor. I have been told he ran teams of horses by my grandmother. He lived most of his life in Vermilion Heights.
He had fallen at his home and been taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had appeared to be recovered from a broken hip and was to go home when he suddenly took a turn for the worse and passed away.
