|Birth: ||Feb., 1882, Slovakia|
|Death: ||May 1, 1918, USA|
William Albrect "Bela" Nagy, son of Janos Nagy and Ersebet Toth was baptized on 2 Feb 1882 in present day Zatin, Trebisov, Kosice, Slovakia. His birthplace was previously known as Feb 1882 • Sátoraljaújhely (Zeteny), Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen, Hungary. He was the second of 4 children born to his parents. Bela's siblings were: Gyula, born 1880, Emma, born 1883 and Janos, Jr. born 1886.
Bela married Zsofia Banyacski about 1906. On 31 Mar 1907, a son Janos was born to them in present day Streda nad Bodrogom, Slovakia (previously known Bodrog Szerdahely, Zemplen, Hungary). Sometime between the birth of Janos in 1907 and 1913, Bela immigrated to America. He worked in the Coal mines near Punxsutawney, PA and sent money to his wife Zsofia, and their young son, John R. Nagy, who both joined him in America via Ellis Island in New York in May 1913.
Bela was a tall slender man with dark brown hair and brown eyes who enjoyed reading the Hungarian newspaper on his porch after work while sitting in a rocking chair and smoking his pipe. Sadly, he contracted Tuberculosis in Sept 1917 and passed away on 1 May 1918 at the age of 35. He was predeceased by a son, Alex in 1916 and was survived by his wife; Zsofia, age 34 and two sons; John R., age 11 & William Albert, Jr., age 4. Family stories tell of an infant son named Albert, or Steven who was abducted during Bela's funeral service and taken back to Hungary. He was never seen again. No records have been found of the infant, which is understandable due to home births and the illness of Bela during the pregnancy and birth of the infant child.
