Chester Man Killed In Fall

Worker, 42, Plunges 100 Feet At Weirton

A 42 - year - old Chester construction worker died instantly in a 100 - foot fall this morning at 8 at the Weirton Steel Co. at Weirton. Thomas L. Abrams, 351 Indiana Ave. was killed when he was knocked from a scaffold by a piece of grating while at work on a new boilerhouse at the steel works department. He was an employe of the Rust Engineering Co. George Schwerha, Hancock County coroner, said death was caused by compound fracture of the skull. A fellow - employe, Richard Reed, 38, of Dixonville suffered cuts of the back when the grating hit the scaffold. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mildred Abrams, and a 1 year - old son, Thomas, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Abrams of Louisiana Ave., Chester; two brothers, John Abrams of Chester, and Robert Abrams of Richland, Wash., and four sisters, Miss Leona Abrams, Miss Alberta Abrams, Miss Eunice Abrams and Miss Shirley Abrams, all of Chester. The body was removed to the Welch Funeral Home at Hookstown. Arrangements are incomplete.

Services for Thomas L. Abrams, 351 Indiana Ave., Chester, who was killed in a fall Wednesday at Weirton, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Abrams, 530 Louisianna Ave., Chester. The Rev. C. T. Weimer, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery at Hookstown. Abrams was born Dec. 4, 1911, in Georgetown. He was member of the Elks Lodge of East Liverpool and American Legion Post 121 of Chester. Friends may call at the Robert Abrams home.
