Mrs. John Alley

Mrs. Edith Allison Alley of Follansbee, a former Chester resident, and wife of John Alley, died Thursday afternoon at an Akron Hospital, following a long illness. She was born in Hookstown, daughter of the late Hardy Allison and Mary Allison. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Dr. James Alley of Akron, and three daughters. Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Follansbee.

Mrs. John Alley

Follansbee - Mrs. Mary Edith (Ma) Alley, 59, wife of John Alley of 1134 Neville St., died Thursday at 5:10 p.m. in the home of her son, Dr. James Alley of Lodi, Ohio, with whom she had been residing. Mrs. Alley had been a resident of Follansbee since 1927, coming from Wheeling. She was a member of the Follansbee Free Methodist Church, and was past president of the Woman's Missionary Society of the church, and was a former church treasurer, board of trustees member, class leader, official board member and Sunday School teacher. For many years she represented the church at Free Methodist Conferences in Pittsburgh. She leaves her husband, John Alley, a son, Dr. James Alley of Lodi, Ohio, with whom she resided; three daughters, Mrs. Lois Fry of Mira Loma, Calif., Mrs. Jean Morrow and Mrs. Mary Alice Stam, both of North Chili, N.Y.; a sister Mrs. Callie Brevard of East Liverpool; a brother, Lee Allison of East Liverpool; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was born in Hookstown, Pa., June 10, 1901 a daughter of the late William and Mary Marshall Allison. Friends may call at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee. The body will lie in state at the Follansbee Free Methodist Church on Sunday from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. when funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Mr. Fred Schreffler and the Rev. Mr. Ralph Page. Burial in Mill Creek Cemetery, Hookstown, Pa.
