William "Buck" was born to William and Emma Pauline Murphy Buckley. He was an only child and graduated Brown & Nichols Prep School. He was active on the track and rowing teams.

At the age of 36, he married Elizabeth Alice Davison on Oct. 15, 1940 in East Rockaway, Long Island, NY at Bethany Congregational Church. They had seven children, two of whom are deceased, William G. He taught himself to play the piano and the accordion, enjoying music time with his wife and children, especially on Sunday afternoons.

He worked as a salesman, first of Matthews Yachts and later in life as a manufacturers' representative for his own company, Wm. G. Buckley & Company.

He was a Mason.

He spent his later years visiting with family and friends. He served as a volunteer, providing rides for doctor appointments for people who were unable to drive themselves.

It's Spring time, Dad, and I remember that you don't want me to waste money buying flowers to put on your grave, so I'm doing this for free and a token that I remember you and miss you. May you rest in God's peace. Until we meet again.
