Karen M. Dernbach, age 75, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

She was born on October 13, 1938 in Aurora, Illinois to the late C. Woodrow and Kathryn (Evans) McKay. Karen was a retired teacher. She was a member of the Berean Faith Fellowship Church here in Mount Vernon.

She is survived by her daughter Jessica (Gordy) Harmon of Mount Vernon; her son Michael (Alishia) Dernbach of Bellville; three grandchildren, Kathryn (Jesse) Bryant, Amanda (Josh) John, Logan Dernbach; six great grandchildren, Layna Bryant, Meira Bryant, Nason Bryant, Elizabeth John, Sarah John, Luke John; two brothers, Randy McKay, Jeff (LaJuana) McKay; and her sister Lynn McKay.

Besides her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Richard "Dick" Dernbach.

Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 PM at the Berean Faith Fellowship Church (103 Madison Street, Mount Vernon). A service will be held on Tuesday, at the church, beginning at 1PM with her son in law Pastor Gordy Harmon officiating. The family will observe a private burial.
