Firestone met her husband at a party in Washington ,D.c. and married him in what was called "the most brilliant and most beautiful wedding ever held in Decatur" in June 1921 at St. Johns Episcopal church. As a result of his investigations, Liberia was selected as the country in which an American rubber plantation could be established.
