Services for Hobart M. Ahbe, 89, the former mayor of Des Plaines, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at Lee and Perry Streets, in the suburb. Mr. Ahbe was the city's mayor from 1937 to 1941 and an alderman for several years. Mr. Ahbe, who died Friday in Holy Family Hospital, Des Plaines, had retired after 55 years as a freight claim agent for the Chicago and North Western Transportation Co. He is survived by a son, Donald; and two sisters, Elsie Wittbold and Irene Knight.

Ahbe, of Des Plaines, beloved husband of the late Gladys, nee Peterson and Maria, nee Schaefer; loving father of Donald Ahbe; dear brother of Elsie (Ted) Wittbold, and Irene (late George) Knight. Visitation Sunday, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Oehler Funeral Home, Lee at Perry Streets, Des Plaines, where services will be held Monday, 2 p.m. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery. Memorials to First Church of Christ Scientist, at 1275 Marion St., Des Plaines.
