Born to Jane Ramsey and Roland Lee Scaife, Sr., she was delivered by her grandfather, Dr. Charles Ramsey. A 1950 graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, she taught briefly at Warren [Arkansas] High School before marrying William K. Ball. Her husband, a veteran of World War II, was recalled to active duty for Korea. Her husband and three children survive her. Obit in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette on July 1, 2005.
