Margaret Adams

Margaret Ann Elliot Moors Adams died Oct. 13, 2014, in Washougal, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. She was 85.
She was the third of six children born to John and Florence Moors in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Margaret married the love of her life, Merrill Eveson Adams. The early married years found Margaret and Merrill in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Magrath, Alberta; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Washougal. They worked in the woolen mill industry and moved to Washougal to work for Pendleton Woolen Mills. Merrill later worked for 30 years as a school district transportation superintendent and Margaret was a school bus driver for special needs children. When they retired, they moved to Goldendale, Wash. Later, they moved back to Washougal to be near their family. Some people commented that they thought "Merrill and Margaret" was one word, because they did everything together. They especially loved their family and going camping with all of them when possible.
After Merrill died on Oct 30, 1996, Margaret spent a great deal of time with her daughter Debbie and her husband Chris Leifsen. They were not the only family, but they were her best friends. While Margaret valued her independence and kept her own home, she often stayed with Debbie and Chris several nights a week. Margaret was a member of the Latter-day Saints church, where she was a primary president and Sunday school teacher.
Right to the end, Margaret's mind remained sharp and clear. She would talk to family and friends and tell stories about her youth and her life.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her grandson, John Todd Taylor.
She is survived by five children, Jack Merrill Adams of Colville, Wash., Carol Ann Taylor of Orem, Utah, Debra Lee Leifsen of Washougal, Larry Adams of Washougal, and Barbara Jean Jones of Salt Lake City; sisters Ruth Rolling of Magrath, Alberta, Eleanor Witbeck of Raymond, Alberta, Mary Dewar, of Ontario; brothers, John Moors of Ontario, and Bob Moors of Lethbridge, Alberta; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and on great-great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washougal. Vault interment will follow at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Straub's Funeral Home & Columbia River Cremation in Camas is in charge of arrangements.
