On October 13th 2013, Skippy Ray Alley beat the battle with liver cancer by going Home to his Lord and Savior. Born in Leonard TX on October 11, 1949, Skippey was a man who could imbue any room with laughter and joy. Actor, musician, artist, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, these were the roles he took on to bring happiness and warmth to those around him. Skippey believed in helping others and was as likely to be found bringing clothes and supplies to the homeless in and around Austin as he was sharing a stage on Sixth Street. Skippey was proud of his Native heritage and his faith, both of which informed his passion for giving back to his community. Even though Skippey has departed, he leaves two legacies: his music and the love he shared with others. Both will last long after those he left behind join him in heaven. He was preceded in death by his father Elford Alley of Desert, TX and grandparents Lee and Hattie of Blue Ridge, TX and Robert and Edwina Burgess of Desert, TX. He was survived by his mother, Loretta Burgess-Alley-Hopper of Desert, TX. His children Tava Alley-Fogle of Blue Ridge, TX; Avery and wife Crystal Alley of Kingsland, TX and Kaya Alley of Liberty Hill, TX. His grandchildren Timothy and Loretta Fogle of Blue Ridge, TX and Shaylea Alley of Kingsland, TX. His brothers Larry and wife Vicki Alley of Tyler, TX; Wayne Alley of Desert, TX; James and wife Linda Alley of Desert, TX and sister Helen and husband Rick Weaver of McKinney, TX. He had a strong loving bond with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly. Family night will be held at Hursts Fielder Baker funeral home in Blue Ridge, Texas on Tuesday at 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge in Blue Ridge, Texas on Wednesday at 2pm. Graveside service will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Desert, Texas.
