Catherine (Kate) was born in Milltown, County Galway, in the Kingdom of Ireland, the same place as her husband, William. She was baptised January 6, 1888. She emigrated to the United States on the same ship as William, and became engaged to him on the voyage. In New York, from 1905 until her wedding in 1907, she was employed as a maid for the Walter Hamer Gahagan family. Mrs. Gahagan bought Kate the "Alice Blue" gown she wore at her wedding. She cared for the Gahagans' daughter Helen, who later married the actor Melvyn Douglas, and who was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (D-CA). Kate married William Henry Noone, April 7, 1907, at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 262 W. 118th St., Harlem. Kate became ill with pneumonia in the winter of 1921-1922, and died February 12, 1922, and was buried February 15, her daughter Catherine's 12th birthday, in Old Calvary.
