Chico Enterprise-Record, March 23, 1951: "Llewellyn Adkins Is Taken by Death: Llewellyn Adkins, a resident of the Durham district for the past 23 years, died this morning at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Oroville. He had been in ill health for several years.
He was born in West Virginia, November 28, 1876 and spent the most of his life there. He came to Durham 25 years ago and has worked as a butcher most of his life.
Besides his wife, he is survived by seven children, Mrs. Doris Hiatt, Mrs. Thelma Snowden and Bobby Adkins, of Durham, Mrs. Gladys O'Farrell and Dale Adkins, of Chico, Mrs. Maxine Killingsworth, of Nelson, and Floyd Adkins of Sacramento; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Thayer, of Hanford; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Huddleston Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ellsworth A. Benedict, of the Durham Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Chico Burial Society Cemetery."
