Ephraim Henry Austin was a son of Charles Austin (1796-1875) and his wife Phoebe Ellen Woodward (1798-1854). He married Lucy Ann Beachum (1824-1904) in Marshall County, Mississippi in 1844, and they settled in Henderson County, Tennessee. They had ten children.
I have the following children: John James Austin (1845-1917), Cynthia Austin (c.1847), Margaret Mahalia Austin (1849), Phoebe Ellen Austin (1851-1934), Dr. Alfred Franklin Austin (1853-1942), Eliza A. J. Austin (c. 1856), William C. Austin (c. 1858), Henry W. Austin (c. 1861), Lucinda A. Austin (c. 1865), and Robert Austin (c. 1871). I am still researching them.
List of children from Mary Jo, who originally created this memorial: John James Austin, Margaret Mahala Austin, Phoebe Ellen Austin, Alfred Franklin (Frank) Austin, Charles William Austin, Henry Woodward Austin, Lorene Adelaide Austin, Robert Ephriam Austin.
Ephraim was a prosperous merchant and land owner. Both he and his eldest son John James Austin served in the Confederate Army.
Many thanks to Mary Jo, who originally created this memorial and kindly transferred it to me; to Barbara Hunter, who sponsored it; to Nicki Coffman, for the tombstone photos; and to Allan Beecham, for the pictures of Lucy & Ephraim. And thanks to Lynnette McClure Howell for the links to his parents' memorials.
