O. E. Anderson Dies Friday; Rites Tuesday

Funeral services for Oscar E. Anderson, 66, and employee of the accounting department at the John H. Best & Sons factory, who died last Friday in Kewanee Public hospital, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Johnson & Gill chapel.

Services were in charge of Rev. H. L. Thrall, pastor of the First Methodist church, and Rev. Eugene Anderson. Organ selections were played by Mrs. Verna B. Anderson. Bearers were Leon H. Best, E. E. Leaf, Edward L. Swanson, W. F. Lahr, Bert W. Johnson and Forrest Hammerberg. Interment was in Galva cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was admitted to the hospital last Tuesday night and died at 11:30 o'clock Friday morning.

Born Near Galva.

One of five children of Frank A. and Mathilda Anderson, he was born on the Morgan "round barn" farm, northwest of Galva, May 28, 1887, and died one day following his 66th birthday. His parents moved to Galva when he was seven years old and he had since resided in this city, attending local schools.

At the age of 15, he began work for the Hayes Pump & Planter company and continued there for 31 years. Since June 14, 1937, he had been employed in the accounting department at the John H. Best & Sons facotry.

On October 2, 1916, Mr. Anderson was united in marriage with Clara Fickling at Cambridge and all of their married life was spent in the residence at 510 Southwest Fourth street.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Dale E. Anderson, of Galva; two grandchildren, Cheryl and Caryl; one brother, John L. Anderson, of Oneida, and two sisters, Mrs. C. H. Walsh, of Kewanee, and Mrs. M. W. Chesley, of Weskin, Kansas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.

Mr. Anderson was a member of Galva First Methodist church and held membership in the Odd Fellows lodge. He had been a director of Galva Savings & Loan association several years.

Mrs. Chesley was unable to attend the services because of illness.
