American motorcyclist, Randy Cleek, and his American mechanic, Kurt W. Keifer, were killed in a head‐on collision between two autos last night near this northern Italian town.

Cleek, 23 years old, of Shawnee, Okla., had just competed in a 200‐mile auccircycle race at Imola.

The police reported the car occupied by Cleek, Keifer and an Italian mechanic, Giuseppe Geraci, veered off the road on a curve and collided with an oncomlog auto in which three Italians were riding.

Cleek had a long list of championships and wins during his career. Here are just a few of the highlights of this outstanding young rider. Randy raced in several disiplines of Motorcycle racing, including Dirt Track on big Mile Tracks, 1/2 Miles, and Short Tracks. He also competed on asphalt Road Race courses. He was brilliant on the Short Tracks around the Oklahoma area and still today is looked up to as "THE MAN" on the Short Track course.

Randy won the Kansas State Rally race held on in May of 1974 at Hutchison, Kansas by defeating the Ragin' Cagin' Mike Gerald in front of 18,000 fans. Randy also won the AMA National Oklahoma State Fair race in 1973. Cleek finished 2nd overall in the New Zeland Road Racing Series in 1974.

Bill Cleek, Randy's father was Randy's crew cheif. Randy later competed on the International circuit in what is known today as MOTO GP. Randy rode a Yamaha Factory Racing Motorcycle for Bel Ray Oil company. Randy lost his life in a tragic highway accident in Spain, when he was there for an FIM sanctioned Motorcycle Road Race.
