Thurman Tomlinson 61 yrs of Urbana passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 5, 2004 in his residence. He was born June 5, 1943 in Jackson, Ohio the son of Dorothy (Yerian) McElfresh and Thurman Tomlinson Sr. Thurman served his country in the United States Army for 20 yrs. After the service he worked for the United States Post Office in Oregon and most recently he worked in the Urbana Post Office. He was an avid remote control air plane aviator. Thurman was a member of the Urbana Flying Club and the Mechanicsburg American Legion Post #238. He is survived by his wife Sherry A. (Minniear) Tomlinson; one daughter Kathleen Strenger of Georgia; one son Neal William Tomlinson; a step-daughter Kristy Burk of Greenville, 2 step-sons Keith (Diana) Burk and Kent (Trista) Burk both of Greenville; 11 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary (Dee) Purgit of Mechanicsburg, Joyce (Steve) Kiser of Oak Hill, Oh, Jenny (Pete) Linton of Coalton, Oh; and Connie (Bob) May of Jackson, Oh.; 2 brothers, Donnie McElfresh of Kentucky and Mike McElfresh of St. Paris; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, William Neal. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 in the Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Gorgon officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #238, Mechanicsburg. Following his wishes his body will be cremated. Mermorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Central Ohio, 200 E. Rich St. Columbus, Ohio
