In a letter from Sophia Hathaway Hastily,of Collins, NY, written on the letterhead of "KNIGHT & HATHAWAY, dealer in Monumental Work of all kinds, Fine Granite a Specialty", dated 23 Apr 1908, addressed to Francis L. Knight,De Soto Jefferson County, Missouri Care of Henry Parkinson, in which Sophia states that "Stephen Knight, is being taken to the hospital. The Collins Center Hotel, has refused him board any longer. I think him in a very bad condition, feeble and his mind is shattered terribly."
