Death: May 3, 2008

He was a shipbuilder. He spent his early years in Woburn, Ma., and later moved to Portsmouth, NH. He studied at Northeastern University and then worked as a machinest before founding the General Ship and Engine Works with his father, Carl. They ran a thriving business and built ships both for civilian and military use. They built and operated three excursion vessels that still operate on Lake Winnepesaukee in New Hampshire. The most famous of these is the Mount Washington, which he owned from 1941 to 1972. In 1982 he was called out of retirement to oversee the lengthening of the vessel, a major job, from 205 feet to 230 feet. He died at the age of 104.
