|Birth: ||Mar. 27, 1927|
|Death: ||Feb. 3, 2004|
Bill was born to Paul & Kate (Klumforth)Bogs in Iowa City. He had several brothers & sisters. He was the second to the youngest. His middle name was for the doctor that delivered him. His mother felt he was going to be her last child so she decided to honor the family doctor, Ned Smith.
Bill served in the Army during WWII.
He married Donna Jean Hedges in Rock Island, IL on Feb 14, 1948. They had seven children, Kathy, William Jr, Robert, Patricia, Donna Marie, David and Wendy. Kathy and William Jr preceded him in death, as did three of his grandkids, Amy, Christopher and Heather.
He worked as a meat cutter for Gay's Locker in Iowa City, was a delivery/route man for Borden's Dairy in Iowa City and then for the City of Iowa City for 32 years in Pollution Control. He retired in 1989.
Bill will be remembered as a family man, a good provider, his work ethics, a loving husband and father, and a Grandpa who spoiled his grandkids despite any attempts to stop him. He loved gardening something he learned through his own family while growing up during the depression. He also enjoyed coin collecting, feeding the wild birds and small animals that came to our yard, reading, metal detecting and bargin hunting. He was a prankster and loved a good joke.
He will be deeply missed by his family.
