Frank Wakefield Merrick

Born January 9, 1892 in Sullivan, Indiana. Frank was a beau of Pearl Graham before he had left for the war. Pearl thought he was killed in World War I, thus her marriage to Clifford Striker. Clifford died in 1938 and Pearl married Frank in late 1939.

Frank was educated at three of the major universities in the country. Georgia Tech in mathematics, Duke in psychology and Columbia in law. During World War I he achieved the rank of First Lieutenant in the 60th Regiment in charge of a machine gun company and was awarded the Purple Heart. Frank was also an accomplished musician and photographer, and worked for the United States Treasury Department. While he was engaged in that occupation he and Pearl lived in several places during their marriage. While they were living in Jacksonville, Florida, Frank died of Angina the last day of July 1949.
