Jerry was the son of Raymond Bert Dunn and Birdie Ione Wamsley (later, Riley). He was the step-son of William Foster "Bill" Riley. In his younger years, he went by Jerry Riley. He loved cars and working on them. He was married to Margaret Hazel "Peggy" Dunn on April 14, 1963, in Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio. His children are Denver Eugene Dunn and Melissa May Dunn Cox.
Jerry's siblings were Georgie "George" Foster Riley (b. 1944, m. Ruth Tong); Goldie Ann Riley (b. 1946, m. Charles Williams); and Thomas Willis Riley (b. 1947, m. Betty Sue Morris).
He passed away from cancer on October 22, 2000, at his home in Locust Grove, in Adams County, Ohio, with his wife Peggy near him. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, near a grandson, Bradley Eugene Dunn; his mother, Birdie Riley; and many Wamsley ancestors.
