Grady Franklin Aaron, 91, a life-long resident of Lewisville, Texas, passed away on December 29, 2009.

He was born in Dallas, Texas on November 27, 1918 to Grady H. and Bessie LeGrande Aaron. Grady graduated from Lewisville High School in 1938, and was a World War II veteran who attained the rank of Master Sergeant, serving with the Army Air Corps and the Southeast Training Command from 1939 to 1945. Grady married Wannell Painter on August 18, 1944. After the war, he worked for Chance Vought Aircraft and LTV as an aircraft mechanic. He later worked for E-Systems and then for General Computer Systems until his retirement.

For more than 65 years, he was a loyal and faithful member of Lewisville First United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Workers Class, and he served the church in many capacities, including Sunday School superintendent and teacher, usher and member of the Administrative Board. Grady was a nine-year member of the Lewisville Independent School District Board of Trustees. He was a long-time member of Lewisville Masonic Lodge No. 201, having received his 60-year pin in 2007. Grady was a master mechanic and craftsman, and never met a machine he could not fix, a repair he could not make or a project he could not build. He loved planting and tending his huge vegetable garden, which he continued to work until well after his 85th birthday. Grady was a good, kind and gentle man, and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brothers, Glenn Aaron and Frank Aaron.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Lewisville First United Methodist Church, followed by graveside services at Chinn Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Grady's request, donations may be made to the Permanent Endowment Fund or the General Fund of the Lewisville First United Methodist Church.

The Aaron family wishes to express its appreciation to the staff of Lake Village Nursing Home and Rehabilitation for the care they provided to Grady and for the many kindnesses they showed to him.
