Alice Rose Carter Becker of Navasota entered the Church Triumphant on Saturday, March 3, 2007. A Service to The Witness of Resurrection will be celebrated March 7 at First Presbyterian Church, Navasota, TX, with the Reverend Craig Sanders officiating, assisted by Reverend Dr. John Carter. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Marshall, TX on March 8. Reverend Dr. Carter and Reverend James Gale, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on March 6 at Nobles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Becker was born on October 8, 1927 to Robert Carter and Virginia Cook Carter in Goose Creek, Texas. She married Hollis Becker of Marshall, TX in 1950 and they lived in Marshall until he preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Dub Newberg of Plantersville and Anne and Danny Mayden of Lufkin; four grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Gale of Kingston, NC, Adam Beloney of Austin, John Newberg of Huntsville and Karen Beloney of Lufkin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis and Judy Carter of Baytown and John and Sandra Carter of Hamilton, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister.

Mrs. Becker was a graduate of the University of Texas and Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught elementary school for many years, and gave the gift of literacy to a generation of children. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Grimes County Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma.
